Enter Oxford's studious dream to learn English immersed and fascinated in the city with dreamy bells, with friLingue! Follow the dreamlike and formative wanderings of the young Alice in Wonderland and choose our language courses in Oxford, for young people from 15 to 17 years old.
St Clare’s, Oxford was founded by Anne Dreydel OBE and Pamela Morris in 1953. The college grew out of a willingness to rebuild links between British and European students after the Second World War. Within the mid-1950s, students came from more than 12 Western European countries. Over time, through the strong reputation and the influence of word-of-mouth, this extended across the world.
Nowadays, the school consistently attract students from over 40 countries every year and remain as faithful to their mission as they did when the college was first established. The mission focusses on “advancing international education and understanding”.
Oxford is a safe, small and thriving multicultural city where students can enjoy beautiful architecture, picturesque parks, riverside walks and cultural sites as well as world-famous museums, libraries and art galleries.

Host family
Choosing the host family means making the choice to live with Oxford residents, eating, talking and sharing with them as a member of the family. It is an immersion in culture, and an extra serene opportunity to practice your English throughout the day. Each family is specially prepared to carry out this role. All the homestay providers are a short bus ride away from the College.
Residence
Learning to live with other students from around the world is, for many, the most valuable part of the experience:
The school requires a deposit for each student accommodated in its residence: £20 (for 10-15 years old) or £30 (15-17 years old)
The activities and excursions are closely related to the courses you have chosen and thus the English programme and activities for young people from 10 to 15 years includes many activities and sports and 3 excursions per week. For more specific teen programs (arts, sciences, intensive, interactive) we offer many workshops and activities related to the topics of the programmes, including 1 targeted excursion per week, to make the most of the lessons learned.
Activities include
Excursions
All participants have the chance to have fun while traveling outside the college. Educational, physical, cultural - there are many choices.
We are lucky to be so close to Stratford upon Avon (for Shakespeare), Bath (for the Romans), Wales (for the castles), Thorpe Park (for the rides), Birmingham (for Cadbury's World), Stonehenge (for the heritage) and of course London (for everything else!).
