CIT - Counselor in Training

Imagine this situation - you are 17 years or older and had a lot of fun in a previous friLingue camp or another summer camp and you saw the friLingue staff members and camp leaders in action and you thought for yourself: "I can and want to do that too"!

Or you've never taken part in a camp, but you'd love to have the opportunity! However, you think you're past it because you're not old enough. In fact, you can now take part in a camp, have a lot of fun, but also learn a lot more from this experience!
 

Are you also proactive, reliable, empathetic, punctual, enthusiastic, positive and communicative? If you do possess some of these attributes, we've got the perfect camp experience for you!

Participation in the CIT program is based on selection.

Interested applicants must:

2. Take part in an online interview in English.

Costs only arise if and once you have been selected for the program.

The candidates must be at least 17 years old at the start of their CIT session and have advanced knowledge of English. Good knowledge of French or German is an advantage. Do you have previous experience in scouting or another type of youth program? Tell us about it!

Graduating from the CIT program is a positive addition to any resume and gives teenagers the confidence they need to become successful leaders in camp or other areas of life.

Full CIT

Our full CIT program is designed to offer qualified young people the opportunity to prepare for positions as camp leaders. The focus is on leadership development, teamwork, communication and organizational theory.

This program is an intensive, hands-on training experience that gives youngsters valuable insights into the role of a camp leader. Under the guidance of an experienced friLingue camp leader, the young CITs develop their decision-making and problem-solving skills by assisting with daily activities.

Organize, enforce rules, comfort the homesick boy, rush to help the camp leader, accompany, check the timetable for the excursions, warn the kids it's bedtime, referee a football game and so on.

In everyday camp life, you support teachers in different ways. Please be aware that it will be a very intense time! You will work a lot, stand on your very own feet for long periods of time, experience many beautiful things, have great experiences and learn a lot for life! During the camp weeks, your camp leader organizes short feedback rounds two to three times.

Traineeship activities take around 6 hours a day.

These price includes: full-board accommodation, excursions, evening program & booking fees.

Partial CIT

This option includes all the traineeship activities of the full CIT, but with a reduced timetable because the CIT also takes part in the language classes (or ski or snowboard lessons during the winter).

The CIT will also work closely with our camp leader, learning about the camp organisation, logistics and leadership with the following tasks: activities with kids, organization of the workshops, accompanying the excursions, evening program, etc.

Traineeship activities take around 5 hours a day.

These price includes: full-board accommodation, excursions, evening program & booking fees.

Culinary CIT

This CIT will work closely with our chefs, who will teach them as much as they can about daily cooking routines with the following tasks: planning the meals, how to buy the products, cooking, hygiene rules, how the kitchen have to be cleaned, etc.

This option includes language courses in all seasons or ski/snowboard courses in winter.

Traineeship activities take around 5 hours a day.

These price includes: full-board accommodation, excursions, evening program & booking fees.

Accommodation:

CITs are accommodated in the same rooms as the other team members at the camp in which they are taking part. Rooms are always organised by sex.

CITs aged 17 will be allocated another room with young people of their own age. However, this option may not be available during the busiest weeks.

Autumn: Braunwald, Saint Bernard

Spring: Braunwald, Saint Bernard

Arrivals and departures:

Arrivals - The CITs arrive at the camp on Saturdays. But if he/she books the transfer service with us, he/she should arrive on Sunday.

Departures - The CITs leave the camp on Sundays.

Optional extras:

Airport transfer - 150 CHF each way
Laundry service - 40 CHF per load (only available for participants staying 2 weeks or more)
Special Diet (gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.) - 100 CHF per week
Travel isurance - 50 CHF per week (only if participant doesn't already have one)
Travel cancellation insurance - approx. 4,1% of the total price (After booking the flight, the price is calculated at approx. 4% of the total package: language camp + flight)

Winter sports equipment rental - 200 CHF per week
Premium winter sports equipment rental - 300 CHF peer week

• Winter Alps Camp: ski, snowboard, boots, ski poles, helmet, sledging, skating, snowshoeing and everything else needed
