CIT (Counselor in Training)
Say hello to the best summer of your life!
Imagine this situation - you are 18 years or older and had a lot of fun in a previous friLingue camp or another summer camp and you saw the friLingue staff members and camp leaders in action and you thought for yourself - I can and want to do that too!
Organize, enforce rules, comfort the homesick boy, rush to help the camp leader, accompany, help the kitchen team clean up, check the timetable for the excursions, warn the kids it's bedtime, referee a football game and so on.
Are you also proactive, reliable, empathetic, punctual, enthusiastic, positive and communicative? If you do possess one of these attributes, we've got the perfect camp experience for you!
IF YOU ARE 17 YEARS OF AGE, WE'VE PREPARED A SPECIAL CIT PROGRAM JUST FOR YOU!

''He who dares, wins!''
- Sir David Stirling
Our Counselor-In-Training program (CIT) is designed to offer qualified young people the opportunity to prepare for positions as camp leaders. The focus is on leadership development, teamwork, communication and organizational theory.
The 4 to 6-week Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program is an intensive, hands-on training experience that gives youngsters valuable insights into the role of a camp leader. Under the guidance of an experienced friLingue camp leader, the CITlers develop their decision-making and problem-solving skills by assisting with daily activities.
From 29.06.2024. we start in Liddes St Bernard Camp, and you can join us either then or every next Sunday. During the first week, you will learn different aspects of camp leadership: organization, first aid, division of employees, conflict resolution, friLingue rules and culture, games, leadership, etc. Then we will divide you into one of the following camps: Estavayer-le-Lac, Schwarzsee, Braunwald or Liddes. Usually, you will stay in the same camp for the rest of your stay. However, in exceptional cases, there may be changes at short notice.
In everyday camp life, you help the camp leader and the teacher leaders whenever/wherever you can. Please be aware that it will be a very intense time! You will work a lot, stand on your very own feet for long periods of time, experience many beautiful things, have great experiences and learn a lot for life! During the camp weeks, your camp leader organizes short feedback rounds two to three times.
The best candidates will have the opportunity to be co-leaders next year. You will arrive on Wednesday two days before the start of the camp, which is enough time to get to know the environment and pass the preparation training with our camp leader.
Skills for the 21st century!
Graduating from the CIT program is a positive addition to any resume and gives teenagers the confidence they need to become successful leaders in camp or other areas of life.
